A forest fire broke out in the Urla district of Izmir. While the teams are working to extinguish the fire with aerial and ground intervention, Izmir Governor Süleyman Elban also made a statement. Governor Elban stated, "The fire has not yet been brought under control. There doesn't seem to be any risk for residential areas at the moment." Elban also announced that one person has been detained in connection with the fire.

A new development occurred while aerial and ground intervention was being carried out for the forest fire that broke out in Urla district of Izmir. 1 person was taken into custody regarding the fire.

A fire broke out in the forested area in Yağcılar Neighborhood of Urla district for reasons yet to be determined. 4 planes, 12 helicopters, 36 fire trucks, 10 water supply vehicles, 4 bulldozers, and 8 ground teams belonging to the General Directorate of Forestry were dispatched to the region.

Izmir Governor Süleyman Elban inspected the region. Afterwards, Elban made a statement to the journalists and stated that 5 fires broke out in the city today.

Elban stated that it is estimated that the fire started due to sparks jumping from a charcoal production site in the south of Yağcılar Neighborhood at 16:33 and rapidly spread with the effect of the wind. Elban said, "Within 10 minutes, we intervened with our air teams and then started our intervention from the ground. We evacuated 15 citizens with our Coast Guard boats on the coastal side. We ensured the evacuation of 135 citizens in 29 caravans and 7 houses quickly for the sake of their safety. Until sunset, intervention was carried out with 10 planes and 12 helicopters. On the ground, we continued the intervention with 84 vehicles, 2 TOMAs, 4 bulldozers, 50 fire trucks, 29 water tankers, and other vehicles with our 404 personnel. Currently, two helicopters with night vision are still continuing their intervention in the air."

Elban explained that the teams continue to work intensively and said, "The fire has not been brought under control yet. If there is no abnormality in the wind, we currently have a wind that sometimes reaches 72 kilometers per hour, there is no risk for residential areas at the moment. The energy of the fire has decreased a bit."

When asked by journalists if there was any negligence in the charcoal production site during the fire, Elban said, "The owner of the facility was taken into custody upon the instruction of the prosecutor's office.
