Under the March 10 agreement, the deadline for the PKK terrorist organization's Syrian extension, YPG/SDF, will expire on December 31. While it has been stated that the U.S. administration will not hinder any operation against the terrorist organization, the Sahani Tribe, which supports a possible operation, sent a message saying, "We are ready to support with 400,000 fighters."
A critical phase has been entered in the process aimed at ending the terrorist corridor intended to be established in northern Syria. According to a report in Türkiye Gazetesi, with the deadline for the terrorist organization PKK's Syrian extension YPG/SDG expiring on December 31, there has been an increase in activity both on the ground and in diplomatic traffic. It is assessed that CENTCOM's insistence on the PYD/YPG-SDG issue has significantly weakened, and Washington is not expected to object to a possible operation against Damascus and Ankara.
According to information obtained from security sources, the months of December and January will witness decisive developments regarding the future of Syria. It is stated that the new vision for Syria, shaped between Washington, Damascus, Ankara, and Doha, is based on preserving Syria's unitary structure, and this framework seriously disturbs Israel. Within the scope of this plan, it is anticipated that the coalition forces and the Syrian army will carry out the mission of combating ISIS, which the PKK uses to legitimize its presence on the ground, while the YPG/SDG structure is expected to be integrated into Damascus, abandoning its political, military, financial, and geographical demands.
THE U.S. WILL NOT HINDER THE OPERATION
Despite the previously reached agreement in Damascus, the U.S. administration, which was initially hesitant about the military operation against the PKK-YPG/SDG structure that has not fulfilled its obligations, is now reported to no longer hinder the operation despite some reservations. It is noted that the fundamental condition of the American administration is that tribal forces and civilian elements do not play an active role in the operations, and that all initiatives should be in the hands of the Damascus administration and the Syrian army. In the event of a possible operation, it is stated that CENTCOM will end its military presence in contact lines and strategically important regions.
"HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF CIVILIANS ARE WAITING FOR THEIR ARMY"
The leader of the influential Sahani Tribe, Abdunnasır es-Segni, claimed that the local population has been living under oppression for many years, stating, "Hundreds of thousands of civilians are waiting for their army. Our people have lived under the Baath regime for 60 years and under the oppression of PKK-SDG for the last 10 years. The months of December and January will be a turning point for Syria and the region. When the operation begins, the truths will emerge," he said.
ARMY OF 400 THOUSAND READY
Addressing the military capacity of the tribes, es-Segni claimed that they could fight against the terrorist organization with at least 400 thousand fighters, depending on a decision from Turkey and Damascus. Noting that millions of civilians live in Raqqa, Hasakah, and Deir ez-Zor, es-Segni stated that the vast majority of the local population is loyal to the central government and argued that the current structure is unsustainable. He also expressed that some tribal leaders who previously made statements in areas controlled by YPG/SDG have declared their loyalty to Damascus, claiming that there is no social base in the region that openly supports the terrorist organization.
