CHP Group Deputy Chairman Gökhan Günaydın brought up the house of AK Party Ankara Deputy Osman Gökçek, which had previously caused controversies, during the budget discussions in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM). In response to the debate, Gökçek denied the allegations regarding the value of the property, stating, "I have taken myself to the Gölbaşı Court to prove the truth."

The residence, which is said to belong to AK Party Ankara Deputy Osman Gökçek and is referred to as the "baby palace" in the public, made a significant impact during the budget discussions in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.

The issue came to the fore during the speech of CHP Group Deputy Chairman Gökhan Günaydın, who criticized the investigations against CHP municipalities. Günaydın argued that the government only keeps corruption allegations on the agenda through CHP municipalities, using striking expressions regarding former Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Melih Gökçek. He stated that the public is not convinced by this picture, saying, "If Melih Gökçek has not been arrested, there is no point in pursuing other mayors."

"ALLEGATIONS REGARDING AK PARTY AND MHP ARE IGNORED"

Günaydın claimed that if citizens in Ankara were asked, "Who is more honest, Mansur Yavaş or Melih Gökçek?" the answer would be clear, asserting that allegations regarding AK Party and MHP municipalities are being ignored. Continuing his speech, Günaydın also touched on his own assets, stating that he only owns one house, which he purchased with a bank loan, while recalling the claims of "400–600 million lira" regarding the house built by Osman Gökçek and questioning the source of that money.

TENSION IN THE ASSEMBLY SUDDENLY INCREASED

These words raised the tension in the Assembly, while a striking statement came from Osman Gökçek. Gökçek said he took himself to court to prove that the allegations regarding the value of his house do not reflect the truth. He argued that Gökhan Günaydın's statements are not correct, saying, "I took myself to court so that your lies would be revealed."

This residence was first brought up during last year's budget discussions. At that time, it was claimed that the value of the house, which was under construction, was 600 million TL. CHP Malatya Deputy Veli Ağbaba brought the issue to the Assembly podium, using harsh expressions, while Osman Gökçek denied this claim the next day in a statement. Gökçek stated that the property in question belongs to him, that it was included in his asset declaration when he was elected as a deputy, and that he built a licensed residence on a plot of land he purchased years ago in Gölbaşı. He also described the claim that the house is worth 600 million TL as "completely false," stating that he is ready to sell the house if someone is willing to pay that amount.
