In the avalanche disaster that occurred in the İde Mezrası, a village connected to Taşbaşı in Hakkari, 8 empty houses and 2 barns were damaged, while approximately 120 small livestock were killed. Snow removal teams have started working to clear the avalanche piles that descended onto the road.
The incident took place 2 days ago in İde Mezrası of Taşbaşı village, which is connected to Hakkari center, where the snow depth exceeded 2 meters in some areas.
120 GOATS DIED, 8 HOUSES DAMAGED
In the mezra, which is inhabited during the summer and only has small livestock and 5 shepherds in the winter, a large mass of avalanche fell on 2 barns and 8 empty houses.
Approximately 120 goats in the barns hit by the avalanche were killed. It was learned that the deceased animals belonged to Yusuf Dayan, Abdullah Akbay, and Hasan Durgun. Upon the notification of the shepherds who survived the avalanche, villagers came to the mezra and rescued the animals trapped under the collapsed barns.
WORK HAS BEGUN
While villagers demanded that the damage they suffered be compensated by the authorities, snow removal teams affiliated with the Provincial Special Administration, which were dispatched to the region, began work to open the road blocked by the avalanche. After the road is opened for transportation, it was reported that teams from the Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, AFAD, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry would go to the mezra to conduct damage assessment work. Meanwhile, many trees in the mezra were also trapped under the fallen avalanche.
