Palestinian Authority Vice President Hussein al-Sheikh reacted to Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's characterization of the establishment of a Palestinian state as a "ridiculous" idea. Al-Sheikh stated, "The Palestinian state is the key to security, peace, stability, and prosperity. What is ridiculous is Israel's ongoing occupation and its insistence on committing crimes and violating international law."

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's Deputy Hussein al-Sheikh stated that the establishment of a Palestinian state is the key to security, peace, and stability in the region. Sheikh responded to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who described the establishment of a Palestinian state as a "nonsense" idea, on his social media account.

"THE PALESTINIAN STATE IS THE KEY TO PEACE"

Deputy President Sheikh said, "The Palestinian state is the key to security, peace, stability, and prosperity. What is nonsensical is Israel's ongoing occupation, its insistence on committing crimes, and violating international law." He pointed out that the Israeli occupation will eventually come to an end, stating, "The lifespan of the smallest olive tree in Palestine is certainly longer than this occupation, which will inevitably disappear."

NETANYAHU: NONSENSICAL IDEA

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu described the establishment of a Palestinian state as a "nonsensical" idea this evening, disregarding international decisions on the matter. During a meeting with Israeli ambassadors, Netanyahu stated, "The idea that peace will come with the establishment of a Palestinian state is a nonsensical idea. We have tried this in Gaza. We will not replace a regime that seeks to destroy us with another regime that works for the same goal." With this statement, Netanyahu disregarded UN resolutions that foresee the establishment of a Palestinian state with its capital in East Jerusalem based on the 1967 borders, as well as international law.
