Rojin's father, Nizamettin Kabaiş: I am receiving threatening messages from foreign numbers.

Rojin Kabaiş's father, Nizamettin Kabaiş, stated that he received threats after DNA samples from two men were found on his daughter's lifeless body. Kabaiş said, "I received calls from 3-4 foreign numbers. They wrote, 'We have a hand in Rojin's death. If you and your family do not withdraw, your death is near.'" Furthermore, father Kabaiş noted that a blood trace belonging to a woman was found on Rojin's athletic wear, asking, "Who is that woman? She needs to be identified."

Rojin Kabaiş, a 21-year-old first-year student in the Department of Preschool Teaching at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University, went missing on the evening of September 27, just three days after starting school, at the shores of Lake Van. Her lifeless body was found 18 days later, on October 15, following a citizen's report, 24 kilometers away from where she disappeared, at the shores of Mollakasım Village.

"SHE WAS NOT SOMEONE WHO WOULD COMMIT SUICIDE"

Rojin Kabaiş, who came to the country's agenda with her struggle for justice, spoke to ANKA News Agency through her father, Nizamettin Kabaiş. Nizamettin Kabaiş said: "First, I brought Rojin to Van. On September 24, we entrusted her to the university and the dormitory. My daughter was not in a situation to commit suicide. Why would she commit suicide? A young girl had just been accepted to university to become a teacher. I brought her myself. She was in good spirits on the way and in the market. I brought her to Van. I took her all the way to the university. I took her to the dormitory gate. She left her belongings in the dormitory. We walked around the school yard. We even shot a video. She was in good spirits. She had no problems.

"I HAVE BEEN COMING TO VAN FOR 19 TIMES"

Why did they insist on suicide? This saddened us a lot. After the incident, they doubled our pain. They said she committed suicide. While there was no evidence or proof related to suicide, some officials saddened us greatly in that way. I have been going back and forth to Van for 19 times. We have suffered a lot. Both my family and I are in a very difficult situation. She went missing on September 27. After she went missing, search operations were conducted for 18 days. Finally, her lifeless body was found 24 kilometers away from the university in Mollakasım. That saddened us a lot; it was a very difficult day for us.

"THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE UNIVERSITY AND DORMITORY IS GREAT"

The reason for this is that there were significant negligence. Both the dormitory and the university have major negligence. Those negligence led to death. She went missing on Friday evening, and they called us on Saturday around noon. These are negligence. They are negligence that leads to death. I will complain about both the dormitory and the university. They are the cause.

"SO FAR, NO ONE HAS BEEN TRIED OR PUNISHED"

So far, no one has been suspended from their duties. No one has been punished. But we have filed a complaint. We have filed a complaint again. There are contradictions regarding both the dormitory and the university, as well as the rector. He is pulling contradictions onto himself. Because the autopsy was delayed there. It was circulating a lot in the community. And students are asking, saying, "What happened to our friend?" They are constantly protesting and holding sit-ins. The rectorate is preventing them. But why? What is the reason? Why are you preventing? You did not value us. At least value your students. Let them hold sit-ins; there is no problem. Let them make a statement; let them ask. They are asking, "What happened to our classmate?" This DNA report came from the forensic medicine. The DNA has been identified. It is no longer a contamination. It is clear from where Rojin's body was identified. It is evident that it is a murder.

"ALL OF TURKEY, ESPECIALLY VAN, DIYARBAKIR, AND WOMEN SUPPORTED US"

After that, there were large protests and statements. Press releases were shared by television channels. Everyone supported us, but the most support came from women. There were large protests in both Diyarbakır and Van. There were large protests in both cities. There were also protests in other cities, such as İzmir, Istanbul, Ankara, and Eskişehir. But the largest protests were held in Van and Diyarbakır. We drew strength from there. We know they are with us. God willing, this incident will be resolved with God's permission. I have also been to Ankara twice. I met with the minister, and they took our opinions. They said they would look into the case. The minister said, "I hope this case will be clarified as soon as possible, and those responsible will be caught." We are constantly going back and forth to Van. We are getting information in Van. We are in contact with our lawyers. They share any new developments with us.

"ROJIN MADE 16 PHONE CALLS LAST"

Rojin's phone has not been opened yet. They said, "The password is long; we couldn't open it," but I think it has nothing to do with it; people who know this know it. For example, if you take Rojin's phone number to a dealer or an operator company, they can identify who she spoke to or who called her. During those three days, how many people did she talk to? They explained that to us at that time. While Rojin was in Van, she spoke with 16 people within three days at the university. They informed us about this. We also checked with the family. We identified 10 people from our side who spoke with Rojin. Her aunt, her aunts, two married sisters, her mother, and I. We identified 10 people from our side. We provided this information to the prosecutor's office. They asked us about how she was doing during the conversations, etc. But the remaining 6 people, let's say 2-3 of them could be friends from Van University. Because at that time, they had formed a group on WhatsApp. I wonder who those other people are? They did not explain that to us either.

"THEY DID NOT ALLOW HER ROOMMATE TO COME TO US"

Her roommate never met with us. We really wanted that. We were there during the missing process. Her mother and her aunts were there. The women's tables were separate. We constantly insisted to the directors. The directors were not separating during the missing process. We said let her come and meet with her mother. You slept in the same place with Rojin for three nights. How was her morale? Where did she go that night? The roommate would have asked these questions. Unfortunately, the directors did not allow that. I suspect the dormitory at the university. They did not let her roommate come to us. In the end, she spoke with Rojin on the phone twice that night, after her mother.

"I RECEIVED THREAT MESSAGES FROM FOREIGN NUMBERS FOUR TIMES"

The threat messages came after that statement. It was about a month ago. The new report indicated DNA belonging to two men. After that, the threats started coming from 3-4 different foreign numbers. The first number that came to me was also foreign. An airplane is flying over the Kaaba, dropping bombs. And in the subtitle, it says, "We have a hand in Rojin's death. If you and your family do not withdraw, your death is near." It is written like this. This does not affect me at all. I will not be afraid of that. I will continue my struggle just the same. I am not afraid of anyone. I go everywhere. I will continue my struggle in the same way.

"IF ANYONE HAS SEEN, HEARD, OR KNOWS, PLEASE HELP US"

I have a call to families. I keep saying this; I am asking everyone here. If there are people who know or have seen anything, even if they are from nearby villages, from the university, or students, I am asking everyone, I am asking their families. If anyone knows something or has seen anything, please help us. At least let these killers be found soon. It is evident that this is a murder. We have also told the minister. These two DNA samples need to be found; it is not the time to stop. If DNA belonging to two men has been identified in a woman's body, and it is not contamination, what are they waiting for? Why are they waiting? This needs to be investigated. These individuals need to be found.

We want to find it definitely. Both the university and both villages. Because the male DNA from the nearby areas where the incident occurred must be examined so that we can trace the killers' tracks in that way. We made this request.

"TRACES OF ANOTHER WOMAN'S BLOOD FOUND ON HER ATHLETIC SHIRT"

We also told the minister. While we were in Van, we went to the courthouse. They also mentioned it in our chief prosecutor's office. I hope this will be done. Also, traces of blood have been found on Rojin's athletic shirt. I will keep saying this so that everything can come to light. I mean, that blood was previously said to not be detected. Later, we asked again at the prosecutor's office. That blood belongs to another woman, found on Rojin's athletic shirt. Who is that blood from? Who is that woman? It needs to be identified. Because that woman might have been an intermediary, they took Rojin somewhere. It can be identified that way.

"I WANT THE PRESIDENT AND MINISTERS TO CLARIFY THE INCIDENT"

I ask everyone. Especially I request from the high-ranking officials of the state. Whether it is the President, the Minister of Interior, or the Minister of Justice. We want this case to be clarified as soon as possible so that those officials can intervene. They should fight for it. Why has this case come to this point? Why has everything not been seriously followed for 13 months? There are many deficiencies. This is a murder. No matter who it is, you should investigate thoroughly first. At what stage is the case? Where is the location of the incident? What is it like? Is there a cliff, or not? Perhaps someone slipped or something happened, and they commented that way. They have upset us a lot. I mean, they need to be careful. No matter what happens, whatever the truth is, we are all after it. We want justice.
