A 41-year-old man with a mental disability, Hıdır Aktaş, was found dead in his home in Afyonkarahisar. Following the incident, his father and brother were arrested on charges of 'intentional murder.'
A 41-year-old mentally disabled man was found dead in his home in Afyonkarahisar, and his father and brother were arrested and sent to prison for "intentional murder."
The incident occurred in the village of Derekarabağ, located in the Bolvadin district. According to the information obtained, the 41-year-old mentally disabled man named Hıdır Aktaş was found motionless in his bed by family members yesterday morning.
41-YEAR-OLD MENTALLY DISABLED MAN DIED
Family members then called the 112 Emergency Call Center for help. Upon the notification, health and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the area. Investigations revealed that Aktaş had died.
Detectives from the Gendarmerie Crime Investigation Team (JASAT), who deepened the investigation, detained Aktaş's father K.A., brother B.A., and sister-in-law H.A. after identifying bruises on different parts of Aktaş's body.
FATHER AND SON ARRESTED FOR INTENTIONAL MURDER
After completing her procedures at the gendarmerie, sister-in-law H.A. was released following her statement, while father K.A. and brother B.A. were referred to the courthouse. After being questioned by the prosecutor, the father and son were arrested by the court on charges of 'intentional murder' and sent to prison. When taken to prison after the court hearing, the father and son did not respond to journalists' questions about why they committed the act.
DIED BEFORE BEING PLACED IN A CARE HOME
It was alleged that family members had previously subjected the disabled man to violence, and it was learned that several villagers reported the incident, prompting teams from the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Policies to come to the house and prepare a report. It was also noted that the teams had initiated work to place Aktaş in a care home. However, it was recorded that Aktaş passed away before he could be placed in the care home.
