GLOBAL SCALE PROBLEMS OCCURRED
The storms were not limited to the U.S.; global airlines canceled 1,690 flights, while 20,207 flights were delayed. Passengers faced long waits at airports, with some having to sleep on the floors due to canceled flights.
NEW YORK AND THE EAST COAST WERE AFFECTED
New York's three major airports, LaGuardia, JFK, and Newark, were particularly affected by winter conditions. Forecasts indicate that the region could see up to 23 centimeters of snowfall. Significant flight cancellations and delays were also reported at Detroit, Philadelphia, and Boston airports.
AIRLINES IN A DIFFICULT SITUATION
JetBlue and Delta were the airlines that experienced the most cancellations. By 5:00 PM Eastern Time, JetBlue had canceled 225 flights, while Delta had canceled 212 flights. The airlines waived change fees, but it was noted that tickets were limited.
