Ahmet Soysal, the CHP Deputy Mayor of Artvin, was caught by the gendarmerie while driving a municipal official vehicle under the influence of alcohol. His driver's license was confiscated, and he was also fined, while moments of Soysal approaching a nurse who wanted to take a blood sample from him at the hospital were captured on security cameras.
Ahmet Soysal, the CHP Deputy Mayor of Artvin, was caught by gendarmerie teams while driving an official vehicle belonging to the municipality under the influence of alcohol at the exit of the Cankurtaran Tunnel. His driver's license was confiscated, and he was fined for driving under the influence.
DEPUTY MAYOR CAUGHT DRUNK AT THE WHEEL
According to the information received, at around 02:30 on February 22, a Volkswagen truck with the official license plate 08 AC 958 belonging to Artvin Municipality was observed swerving inside the Cankurtaran Tunnel. After it was seen that the same vehicle lightly hit a sign dividing the road lane at the exit of the Cankurtaran Tunnel in the Çifteköprü village of Borçka district, it was thought that the driver might have a health issue, and gendarmerie teams intervened.
REFUSED ALCOHOL TEST
After it was seen that CHP Deputy Mayor of Artvin, Ahmet Soysal (42), was too intoxicated to stand, gendarmerie teams attempted to conduct an alcohol test. When Soysal resisted and refused, he was taken to Borçka State Hospital for a blood test under the instruction of the Borçka Duty Prosecutor.
CONFRONTED THE NURSE TAKING BLOOD SAMPLE
After Ahmet Soysal also refused to provide a blood sample, a blood sample was forcibly taken from him by the law enforcement team and hospital security under the instruction of the Borçka Duty Prosecutor.
As the hospital's camera footage from those moments emerged, it was seen that when Soysal attempted to confront the nurse taking his blood, the gendarmerie teams intervened.
DIFFICULT TO CALM DOWN
Meanwhile, it was observed that CHP Borçka Mayor Ercan Orhan, who came to the hospital upon learning of the situation, also tried to calm Soysal down.
After the incident, Soysal was detained by the gendarmerie teams. While legal action was taken against Ahmet Soysal for resisting law enforcement officers on duty and for driving under the influence, he was released after giving his statement. His driver's license was confiscated, and he was fined for driving under the influence.
