Osman Nuri Keskin, who killed his daughter Merve Karabaş and his grandson Ata Alp in the middle of the street in Eskişehir, was sentenced to two life sentences without parole by the court.
Osman Nuri Keskin (60), who killed his daughter Merve Karabaş (31) and his grandson Ata Alp Karabaş (7) in the middle of the street in Eskişehir, was sentenced to two life sentences without parole.
The incident occurred in June last year in the Emek neighborhood of the Odunpazarı district. Merve Karabaş, who worked at the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, left her house in the morning and got into her car in front of the door to go to work with her son Ata Alp. At that moment, Osman Nuri Keskin, who had come from Adana and was waiting on the street, argued with his daughter Merve Karabaş.
HE KILLED HIS DAUGHTER AND GRANDSON
Osman Nuri Keskin then pulled out a gun from his waist and shot Merve Karabaş, who was inside the car, killing her. His grandson Ata Alp, who was in the car, got out and tried to escape. Osman Nuri Keskin shot and killed his grandson as he was fleeing. Osman Nuri Keskin was arrested and charged with 'intentional murder.'
THE VERDICT HEARING WAS HELD
The Eskişehir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office filed a lawsuit against Osman Nuri Keskin, demanding two life sentences without parole at the 7th Heavy Penal Court. In the verdict hearing held today, Osman Nuri Keskin, who is married and has two children, was present along with his daughter Merve Karabaş's husband Ahmet Karabaş and relatives. The defendant Keskin admitted to the murders but claimed that he did not commit them intentionally or in a planned manner.
2 LIFE SENTENCES WITHOUT PAROLE
After the defenses, the court sentenced the defendant Keskin to two life sentences without parole. The court also imposed a 2.5-year prison sentence on Keskin for the crime of 'carrying and possessing an unlicensed firearm' without any reductions.
"HE GOT THE PUNISHMENT HE DESERVED"
Rafet Karabaş, the father-in-law of the murdered Merve Karabaş, made a statement outside the courthouse. Expressing their deep sorrow during this process, Karabaş said, "We wish that such a crime would never happen to any of our daughters, sons, or grandchildren again, and we want this pain to end. I believe he received the heaviest punishment we expected," he said.
Merve Karabaş's mother-in-law, Gülhan Karabaş, stated that the defendant received the punishment he deserved without any reductions, saying, "Thank you all very much. Those who are gone do not return, but this has been a small consolation. We are very saddened."
