Last night, Uğur Koç and Berkant Gültekin, the Publishing Coordinators of the BirGün newspaper's internet portal birgun.net, along with Yaşar Gökdemir, the Responsible Editor of birgun.net, were released after being detained.
THEY WERE DETAINED FROM THEIR HOMES
Koç, Gültekin, and Gökdemir, who were accused of "targeting individuals who have participated in the fight against terrorism" under Article 6 of the Anti-Terror Law (TMK), were taken from their homes last night and brought to the Istanbul Police Department Vatan Campus.
"WE DO NOT INTEND TO TARGET ANYONE"
After the news coverage of the visit of the Sabah newspaper reporter to Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek, Koç, Gültekin, and Gökdemir, who were detained, stated in their testimonies at the police that there was no criminal element in the news and that they did not intend to target anyone.
THEY WERE RELEASED
After the statement procedures and health checks at the police station, Uğur Koç, Berkant Gültekin, and Yaşar Gökdemir were brought before the prosecutor. Gültekin, one of the journalists whose statement procedures at the courthouse were also completed, was released by the prosecutor's decision. However, judicial control measures were imposed on Koç and Gökdemir.
