In the case regarding the accident involving Fatma Zehra Kınık, the daughter of former Red Crescent President Kerem Kınık, Yavuz Selim Öztürk, the driver of the motorcycle that Kınık collided with, has also withdrawn his complaint, following the father of 17-year-old Batın Barlasçeki, Serdal Barlasçeki, who lost his life in the accident.
Former Kızılay President Kerem Kınık's daughter Fatma Zehra Kınık collided with a motorcycle driven by Yavuz Selim Öztürk, who was riding without a helmet and had a passenger behind him, on July 9, 2024, in Beykoz, Istanbul. As a result of the collision, the driver of the motorcycle was injured, and the passenger, Batın Barlasçeki, was seriously injured. The 17-year-old Barlasçeki could not be saved despite all the interventions at the hospital.
HE RECEIVED 4 YEARS AND 2 MONTHS IN PRISON
In the ruling made on May 26 at the Anadolu 8th High Criminal Court, the court panel sentenced Fatma Zehra Kınık to 4 years and 2 months in prison for 'causing death by negligence' and 'causing injury to a person.'
HER LICENSE WAS SUSPENDED FOR 2 YEARS
The panel also decided to revoke the driver's license for 2 years, taking into account the defendant's violation of the attention and care obligations required by traffic regulations and the fault situation within the scope of the crime of negligent homicide.
HE WITHDREW HIS COMPLAINT
Finally, Yavuz Selim Öztürk, the driver of the motorcycle that Zehra Kınık collided with, withdrew his complaint. In the petition he submitted to the court, Öztürk stated, "I withdraw my complaint against the defendant Fatma Zehra Kınık Demir. I have no claims for any material or moral compensation."
THE FATHER HAD ALSO WITHDRAWN HIS COMPLAINT
The father of Batın Barlasçeki, the motorcyclist who lost his life in the accident, Serdal Barlasçeki, also withdrew his complaint with a petition submitted to the 8th High Criminal Court on July 8, which concluded the case.
ONLY THE MOTHER REMAINS AS A COMPLAINANT
On the other hand, the complaint of Batın Barlasçeki's mother, who lost her life in the accident, is still ongoing.
