"I WAS POISONED BY THE FOOD I ATE"
Driver Mehmet Aslan, who is being treated in the hospital, stated in his remarks that they took a break at a facility in Bolu and ate there, saying:
'I was poisoned by the food during the break. The meal included sautéed chicken and rice. That's why I got poisoned. After that, I suddenly fainted while driving. The vehicle went as far as it could on its own. The assistant was also lying down. He fell from the seat too. I remained unconscious until the vehicle stopped. I hit the barriers. I had slowed down the vehicle because I felt unwell beforehand. Thank God, we had our fate. If my speed had been 100-105, the bus would have rolled over 2-3 times. I thought maybe I would feel better if I splashed some water on my face later. At that moment, I fainted. I ate the meal at a facility in Bolu. After eating, I started to feel unwell. We were going from Istanbul to Midyat. I had made it this far, and it showed its effect right here.'
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
