In response to the possibility of a sudden attack, the Israeli army has raised its alert level and implemented a new plan. According to this plan, approximately 10,000 reserve soldiers will have M4 rifles delivered to their homes, along with fully loaded magazines, helmets, and combat vests. The aim of the plan is to ensure that these reserve soldiers, who will wear their uniforms only a few weeks a year and whose equipment will often remain as personal belongings, are ready for duty at any moment.
The Israeli army has raised its alert level in anticipation of a sudden attack. The Tel Aviv administration is preparing to implement a new plan that envisions approximately 10,000 reserve soldiers being fully equipped and armed while on standby at home.
10,000 RESERVE SOLDIERS TO BE EQUIPPED
According to a report by Yedioth Ahronoth, the plan revolves around the "David Brigade," which consists of older reserve soldiers aged 40 to 60 who volunteered again after completing their reserve duty, established by the army about a year ago.
Accordingly, each soldier in the brigade of 10,000 will be provided with an M4 rifle, along with fully loaded magazines, a helmet, and a combat vest, delivered to their homes. The plan aims to ensure that the brigade is ready for duty at any moment in case Israel faces a situation similar to the events of October 7, 2023.
WILL STAY AT HOME ALL YEAR ROUND
This means that the reserve soldiers in the brigade will have a long-barreled rifle at home throughout the year. According to the plan, these reserve soldiers will wear their uniforms only for a few weeks each year. This implies that the rifle will mostly remain as personal belongings, while they themselves will be fully civilian.
NUMBER REACHES 400,000
Previously, the Israeli army did not allow reserve soldiers to return home with their weapons due to security incidents that could arise from handling firearms during leave periods or concerns about theft. However, significant changes in the army's policies have been observed since October 7. According to the newspaper, the number of reserve soldiers in the Israeli army is approximately 400,000.
