A gas station in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, was buried underground due to the collapse of the ground. The cause of the incident may be related to excavation work at a nearby construction site. It was reported that there were two shops in the area and at least two people inside during the collapse. The injured were taken to the hospital and it was reported that they were not in life-threatening condition.

The incident that occurred in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, filled witnesses with fear. A gas station was almost buried underground due to the sudden collapse of the ground. Those moments were captured second by second on security cameras.

The footage shows that the road began to slowly collapse at first. Then, the ground suddenly opens up completely, creating a massive pit approximately 15 meters deep. At that moment, people nearby flee in panic.

Some individuals standing at the edge of the pit run away in a panic, while a vehicle quickly leaves the scene. The thick cloud of dust that rises shortly after makes the gas station and the nearby businesses, which were standing just a few minutes ago, completely invisible.

Authorities stated that there were two shops in the area during the collapse, one being a florist and the other a confectioner, and that at least two people were inside. It was reported that the injured were taken to the hospital, with some receiving treatment for fractures. Officials announced that the injured individuals were not in life-threatening condition.

According to initial assessments, the cause of this frightening collapse may be the excavation work being carried out at a nearby construction site. It is believed that the ground weakened due to the excavation, leading to the collapse.

After the incident, police and municipal teams cordoned off the area. Detailed technical inspections were initiated for the safety of the surrounding buildings and facilities. Authorities stated that the investigation is being conducted meticulously to prevent a similar danger from occurring.

This incident was the second major collapse case in Cairo within the last two months. Residents of the city are worried about the possibility of a similar event happening again.

A similar collapse also occurred in the New Cairo area last December, which was explained to be caused by a leak in a water line. The occurrence of similar incidents in different parts of the world raises concerns about infrastructure safety.
