Emre Yazgan, a member of the Judo National Team, lost his life in an avalanche disaster that occurred on Mount Palandöken in Erzurum. In the incident, which took place while a 14-person team was doing conditioning walks off the piste in the Sultan Sekisi area, one person lost their life and five others were injured, separating the twin brothers. 2 BROTHERS SEPARATED BY AVALANCHE16-year-old Emre Yazgan, who lost his life, and his injured brother Yunus Yazgan were among the youngest athletes of the Judo National Team. This disaster separated the two brothers. The Yazgan brothers had never been apart since childhood and had taken their first steps in sports together. It was known that the inseparable brothers shared the same dream; to represent Turkey on the international stage. However, the heartbreaking incident in Palandöken interrupted this dream. The avalanche, caused by heavy snowfall and adverse weather conditions in the region, occurred while the team was walking. With the rapid intervention of AFAD and gendarmerie teams, search and rescue operations were initiated, and Emre Yazgan's lifeless body was found, while Yunus Yazgan and two other athletes were rescued with injuries. The injured were taken under treatment. AN INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN INITIATEDExperts pointed out that the avalanche risk is high due to the recent heavy snowfall and adverse weather conditions in the area. The Erzurum Governorship announced that a comprehensive investigation has been initiated regarding the incident.
