Kristin Cabot, the HR manager who made headlines worldwide with images of her hugging her boss on the big screen at a Coldplay concert, spoke out after the incident. Expressing that she faced lynching and threats, Cabot acknowledged that she behaved inappropriately that night, stating, "I made a wrong decision and paid the price with my career. Nevertheless, it is not over for me and my children. The harassment never ended."
The former Human Resources Director of the American technology company Astronomer, Kristin Cabot, shared for the first time her experiences after being seen embracing the company's then-CEO Andy Byron on the big screen during a Coldplay concert in July. Speaking to the British Times newspaper, Cabot stated that she was heavily affected in both her career and family due to the intense insults and threats she faced following the incident.
RESIGNATION PROCESS AND COMPANY'S STATEMENT
After the scandalous images quickly spread, Astronomer management announced that an investigation would be launched against CEO Andy Byron. Shortly after this announcement, Byron resigned, and 53-year-old Cabot also left her position. Cabot expressed that she was looking for a job after her resignation but was told she was "unemployable."
"I BECAME A JOKE ON THE INTERNET"
The video that was viewed millions of times after Coldplay's lead singer Chris Martin joked during the concert, "Either they have an affair or they are very shy," quickly spread on social media and became a subject of mockery. Cabot described this process by saying, "I became the most vilified manager in human resources history." Stating that she attended the concert separately from her husband, Cabot admitted in an interview with the American New York Times that she did not have a sexual relationship with Byron but acknowledged that she had a crush on her boss.
"I MADE A WRONG DECISION, I PAID THE PRICE"
Cabot, who admitted to drinking alcohol and behaving inappropriately that night, said, "I made a wrong decision, I took responsibility, and I paid the price with my career."
"THE HARASSMENT NEVER ENDED"
Despite this, Cabot emphasized that the events did not come to an end, stating, "This is not over for me, and it is not over for my children. The harassment never ended."
BECAME A TARGET OF INSULTS AND THREATS
Cabot noted that a harsh language was used, especially against women, and stated that she was accused of being a "gold digger" and "rising through her bed." Emphasizing that these allegations do not reflect the truth, Cabot expressed that she has fought against these prejudices throughout her life. After the scandal, she mentioned that she faced intense criticism regarding her appearance, clothing, and physique, some of which came from famous individuals.
"MY CHILDREN EXPERIENCED A FEAR OF DEATH"
In her statement to the New York Times, Cabot explained that she received numerous threatening messages after the incident, some of which contained explicit death threats. She said she received hundreds of phone calls daily for weeks, paparazzi waited in front of her house, and she received more than 50 death threats. Cabot expressed that during this process, her children experienced serious fear and distanced themselves from social life.
BYRON REMAINS SILENT
Kristin Cabot stated that they had brief contacts with Andy Byron regarding crisis management for a while, but they completely cut off communication due to the difficulties it posed to the healing process. Byron has not made any public statements regarding the incident. A fake statement allegedly belonging to Byron circulated on social media after the concert, and the Astronomer company announced that this text was not real.
