THE SESSION WAS HELD UNDER THE PRESIDENCY OF CEMIL TUGAY
The second meeting of the February council meeting was conducted under the management of Council President Cemil Tugay. Before moving on to the agenda items, the floor was opened for off-agenda speeches.
CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE FROM AK PARTY'S DUMAN
AK Party Council Member Gizem Akyüz Duman, who took the floor off-agenda, congratulated the new Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek and the Minister of Interior Mustafa Çiftçi, appointed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Duman, in her speech, made evaluations regarding Akın Gürlek, stating, "I congratulate Akın Gürlek. He has fought a great battle against corruption and theft in Istanbul," she said.
REACTION FROM CHP SEATS
Duman's words caused a reaction from CHP council members. As verbal exchanges occurred between the CHP and AK Party seats, the tension in the room increased.
As the debate quickly escalated, order could not be maintained in the session.
Following the tension, Council President Cemil Tugay announced that he had interrupted the session. As a result of the evaluation made after the break, the meeting was adjourned.
