A 12-year-old middle school student in Florida, USA, was arrested for detailing plans for a bombing and acts of violence against his school in a manifesto reportedly written by the child that authorities seized.
HE WAS GOING TO PLACE EXPLOSIVES IN THE SCHOOL
Authorities stated that alongside the manifesto, there were also drawings of placing explosives on the school campus and maps showing target locations.
"DISTURBING DRAWINGS" WERE NOTICED
According to a statement from the Lee County Sheriff's Office, some of the student's classmates noticed that he was making "disturbing drawings" and reported it to teachers. It was noted that the drawings included plans to place bombs at specific points in the school, and the manifesto explicitly expressed the "intention to carry out acts of violence." Authorities reported that they found videos related to bomb-making and searches for notorious serial killers and terrorists on the child's computer.
"A MAJOR ACT OF VIOLENCE WAS PREVENTED"
The police arrested the child attending Veterans Park Academy for the Arts and reported that the investigation into him is ongoing. Florida Sheriff Carmine Marceno emphasized that a potential act of violence was prevented thanks to the early intervention of the students. Authorities stated that the arrested student faces charges such as "threat to commit a terrorist act" and "threat to possess or place a destructive device."
