In Adana, one of three suspects identified as having entered two houses while hiding their faces with scarves and stealing a total of 670,000 Turkish lira worth of gold, jewelry, and cash, Yeter U. has been captured and arrested. While Yeter U., identified through security cameras, denies the charges, efforts are ongoing to apprehend her daughter Özlem U. and Songül G.
In Adana, Yeter U. (41), who concealed her face with a scarf, along with her daughter Özlem U. (18) and Songül G. (43), broke into two separate houses by forcing the doors on different dates, stealing gold, jewelry, and cash worth 670,000 lira. Yeter U., identified through security camera footage, was captured, while the other two suspects remain at large. In her statement, Yeter U. claimed, "The person in the footage resembles me, but it is not me," and she was arrested.
The incident occurred on September 8 at around 2:00 PM in the Kiremithane neighborhood of the Yüreğir district. Yeter U. and her daughter Özlem U., with their faces covered by scarves, entered the house of M.K. after forcing the door open. The suspects, who stayed in the house for about 40 minutes, stole gold and jewelry worth 650,000 lira hidden in the bedroom wardrobe. They then left the house and took a bus on Kozan Street to flee the area.
Three days after this incident, Yeter U. entered the house of H.E. in the Meydan neighborhood of Seyhan district using the same method, this time with Songül G. The suspects took jewelry and cash worth 20,000 lira from the bedroom and fled the area. The moments of the theft and the suspects escaping were captured on security cameras.
1 SUSPECT CAPTURED, 2 ARE WANTED
Upon returning home and realizing the thefts, M.K. and H.E. reported the incidents, prompting the Theft and Pickpocketing Bureau teams to take action. The police initiated efforts to capture the identified suspects. During raids on their hiding addresses, Yeter U. was taken into custody, while the other two suspects could not be located. Efforts to capture Songül G. and Özlem U. are ongoing.
DENIED THE CHARGES, ARRESTED
During her interrogation at the police station, suspect Yeter U. stated, "The person in the footage resembles me, but it is not me. I have never been to those areas on the specified dates. I did not commit theft." After her processing, Yeter U. was referred to the courthouse, where she was arrested by the court.
