DEVA Party Group Deputy Chairman Sezai Temelli pointed out that the party's name could change during the congress process to be held this year. Temelli stated, "The name could also change. It could be the Democratic Republic Party, or it could be the Democratic People's Party."
Speaking about the long-discussed name change that had previously been denied by the party leadership, Temelli stated, "We must hold a congress this year" and noted that the name change could come up during the congress process.
"IT COULD BE THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC PARTY"
Responding to the question about the name change on İlke TV, Temelli said, "The name can change anyway. It could be the Democratic Republic Party, it could be the Democratic People's Party. Many things could happen."
Temelli also reminded that the name DEM Party emerged in line with the past party closure process and election strategies.
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
It was claimed that the name of the DEM Party would be "Democratic Republic Party" as desired by the terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan, and that the structures established as umbrella organizations would be closed along with the new party. However, the DEM Party had denied these claims with an official statement.
