ROBLOX BLOCKED
Following the ban on access to Instagram in Turkey, another platform has been blocked. Roblox, an online gaming platform particularly popular among children and with approximately 15 million users in Turkey, has been blocked. The Information Technologies and Communication Authority (BTK) announced on its website that "roblox.com has been blocked from access by the decision of Adana 6th Criminal Peace Court, dated 07/08/2024 and numbered 2024/5282 D. WHAT IS ROBLOX?
Roblox is an online experience platform and experience creation system developed by Roblox Corporation. It allows users to program their own experiences and play experiences created by other users. Founded by David Baszucki and Erik Cassel in 2004 and launched in 2006, the platform hosts games of various genres coded in the Lua programming language. The gaming platform started to grow rapidly in the second half of the 2010s and this growth has accelerated even more with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Roblox is free to play and in-game purchases can be made using a virtual currency called "Robux." As of August 2020, Roblox has over 164 million monthly active users and is played by more than half of all children under the age of 16 in the United States.
