Hasan Karateke, who was penalized and faced a demolition order for his house built within the forest boundary in the Gazipaşa district of Antalya, was inspired by the historical event where Fatih Sultan Mehmet transported his ships overland. He moved his house onto his titled land using a rail system.

The story of Hasan Karateke, who moved his house by placing it on rails due to a demolition and penalty decision made against him for being built within the forest boundary, reminded many of the historical event when Fatih Sultan Mehmet transported his ships over land during the conquest of Istanbul.

WHEN HE RECEIVED A PENALTY FOR HIS HOUSE, HE FOUND HIS OWN SOLUTION,

Years ago, believing he had a title deed, Hasan Karateke decided to move his house after receiving a demolition order 7 years later. Karateke said, "We built this house 7 years ago thinking it was 'titled.' At that time, there were no digital systems. We applied with the documents we had and did not receive any warnings. We thought everything was legal. Then one day, foresters came and took notes. We received a sentence of 1 year and 6 months in court. Not just me, but my cousin received the same penalty," he said.

WHEN THE DEMOLITION ORDER CAME, HE MOVED HIS HOUSE OVER LAND

Hasan Karateke explained how they decided to move his house using a rail system: "Our ancestors moved ships over land," said Karateke, "We faced quite a bit of trouble during the transport here. We placed electric poles underneath. It's incredibly heavy, about 30 tons. It even broke the electric poles. We brought iron, laid a rail system underneath. It bent the rails. It breaks the ropes. We moved about 100 meters in approximately 3 days. But it made it here. For us, nothing is impossible. It just takes time. Our ancestors already moved ships over land, you know. We can move our house 150 meters too. We are their descendants. Actually, I work in paragliding in Alanya. I had planned to fly my house, but we didn't because we thought we could land it somewhere else."

"WE STRUGGLED FOR 3 DAYS"

Karateke stated, "We did not run away from here. We even tried to move the house by placing it on the rails. We put electric poles underneath. It was so heavy that even the poles broke. We struggled for three days to move it. We fought like our ancestors. We are their descendants, we respect them, but we also want our rights to be protected," he expressed.

THE STRUGGLE SUPPORTED BY COUSIN SOLIDARITY

Karateke emphasized that his cousin Caner provided him with great support during this challenging process, saying, "Caner is a master of this job, very experienced. Thanks to him, we are progressing step by step. We are grateful to him."
