LABOR FORCE PARTICIPATION RATE WAS 54.2%
The labor force increased by 118 thousand compared to the previous quarter, reaching 35 million 835 thousand in the IV. quarter of 2024, while the labor force participation rate increased by 0.1 percentage points to 54.2%. The labor force participation rate was 72.0% for men and 36.8% for women.
UNEMPLOYMENT RATE AMONG YOUNG POPULATION WAS 16.1%
The unemployment rate among the young population aged 15-24 decreased by 0.5 percentage points compared to the previous quarter, reaching 16.1%. The unemployment rate in this age group is estimated to be 12.6% for men and 22.5% for women.
57.8% OF EMPLOYMENT WAS IN THE SERVICE SECTOR
The seasonally adjusted number of employed individuals in the IV. quarter of 2024 increased by 86 thousand in the agricultural sector, 82 thousand in the industrial sector, and 9 thousand in the construction sector compared to the previous quarter, while it decreased by 36 thousand in the service sector. 14.8% of the employed were in agriculture, 20.8% in industry, 6.6% in construction, and 57.8% in the service sector.
WEEKLY AVERAGE ACTUAL WORKING TIME WAS 42.8 HOURS
The weekly average actual working time of those employed during the reference period, adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects, increased by 0.2 hours compared to the previous quarter, reaching 42.8 hours in the IV. quarter of 2024.
UNDERUTILIZED LABOR FORCE RATE WAS 28.0%
The rate of underutilized labor force, consisting of time-related underemployment, potential labor force, and unemployed individuals, increased by 1.4 percentage points compared to the previous quarter, reaching 28.0% in the IV. quarter of 2024. The combined rate of time-related underemployment and unemployed individuals was estimated to be 18.5%, while the combined rate of potential labor force and unemployed individuals was estimated to be 19.3%.
