It is reported that Erkan T., the owner of the warehouse rented by the Turkish Grain Board (TMO) in Konya, has fled abroad and defrauded TMO of 500 million lira. As part of the investigation, 9 warehouse employees have also been detained.

It has been learned that the warehouse owner, who is alleged to have defrauded TMO of 500 million lira, has fled abroad.

TMO rented a licensed warehouse belonging to Erkan T. in the Yunak district, paying an annual rent of approximately 40 million TL, to store barley, wheat, and corn produced by farmers in the region. Later, during inspections by the Provincial Directorate of Commerce, it was determined that the amount of grain reported by TMO did not match the amount in the warehouse. As the warehouse owner Erkan T. could not be reached, the situation was reported to the police.

CLAIM OF 'FLED TO ROMANIA'

Teams from the Konya Police Department's Public Order Branch Theft and Pickpocketing Bureau initiated an investigation following the tip-off. It was determined that Erkan T. sold approximately 40 tons of grain delivered by TMO, with a market value of about 500 million TL. After selling the grains, Erkan T., who also took out large loans from banks and has an arrest warrant against him, is alleged to have fled to Romania.

9 PEOPLE IN CUSTODY

While the investigation into the incident continues, 9 employees, including the responsible manager of the warehouse and the accountant, have been taken into custody. The processing of the suspects at the police station is ongoing.
