Simultaneous operations were carried out in 10 provinces against football club managers who were alleged to have placed bets in favor of their rivals. As part of the operation, 32 suspects were captured and taken into custody.
SIMULTANEOUS RAID
The "Betting-Match Fixing" operation was conducted by the Financial Crimes Unit of the Istanbul Police Department. In the investigations, it was determined that some club managers placed bets in favor of rival teams through legal betting sites.
It was also established that the suspects placed over/under bets on the number of goals and bets related to player performances. Numerous addresses in Adana, Ankara, Antalya, Denizli, Giresun, Izmir, Konya, and Mugla were raided, centered in Istanbul.
While a detention order was issued for 33 suspects, 32 individuals were captured. The suspects were taken to the Istanbul Provincial Police Department under Article 11 of Law No. 6222 on the Prevention of Violence and Disorder in Sports.

The names and clubs for which detention orders were issued as part of the operation were announced as follows:

A statement also came from the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the new operation.
The statement included the following expressions:
"As part of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, known to the public as "BETTING-MATCH FIXING" in professional football leagues, as a result of the research conducted on the managers of football clubs; it was determined that 33 suspects, who were found to have betting accounts and were specifically identified as having placed bets on the rival team during a football match between the team they managed and another team, were subjected to simultaneous search and seizure operations at 33 different addresses in 10 different provinces centered in Istanbul on 20.02.2026, under the allegation of violating Article 11 of Law No. 6222 on the PREVENTION OF VIOLENCE AND DISORDER IN SPORTS. As a result of the operation, 32 suspects were captured, while search efforts for the other suspect are ongoing. The meticulous work in the determined fight against match-fixing allegations in Turkish football and the illegal betting crimes, which are a bleeding wound of society, continues uninterruptedly. It is respectfully announced to the public."
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
The statement made by TFF President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu regarding referees on October 27, 2025, was accepted as a tip-off, and operations had begun. Club presidents, club managers, and many football players had been arrested as part of the betting and match-fixing investigation in football.
