In Izmir, two thieves stabbed and killed 81-year-old Erdinç Kavut, the owner of the house they broke into to commit a robbery, and fled the scene in a car that was waiting for them. Police teams have launched an operation to capture the suspects.
In the Konak district of Izmir, 2 suspects of theft stabbed and killed the owner of the house, Erdinç Kavut (81). The suspects fled the scene with a driver who was waiting for them in a car outside the door. A manhunt has been initiated to capture the suspects.
The incident occurred yesterday evening around 10:00 PM in an apartment located on 3582 Street in the Lale neighborhood of the district. Allegedly, 2 unidentified suspects entered the apartment by jumping over the back garden. The suspects, who stole food-related items, later encountered the homeowner, Erdinç Kavut, in the bedroom.
THEY STABBED THE ELDERLY MAN AND FLED
During the struggle, Kavut collapsed to the ground after being stabbed in the chest, while the 2 suspects quickly exited the house. The suspects fled the scene by getting into a vehicle waiting outside with the driver.
Hearing the commotion, Kavut's wife screamed for help. Residents of the apartment who came to the unit reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center upon seeing Erdinç Kavut lying on the ground. Following the report, police and medical teams were dispatched to the address. Medical teams confirmed that Kavut had lost his life during their examination.
POLICE ARE IN PURSUIT OF 3 SUSPECTS
After the prosecutor's examination, Kavut's lifeless body was taken to the Izmir Forensic Medicine Institute morgue. The police continue their efforts to capture the 3 suspects who fled the scene after the incident.
