2,600 POSITIONS BEING ELIMINATED
According to reports in the international press, Visa Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ryan McInerney sent a memo to company employees regarding the matter. McInerney stated that approximately 2,600 positions would be eliminated as part of efforts to make the company more efficient in the increasingly competitive payments sector.
EQUIVALENT TO 7 PERCENT OF COMPANY EMPLOYEES
Noting that the cuts correspond to approximately 7 percent of the company's employees, McInerney said the layoffs would primarily affect technology and product operations teams.
McInerney stated that they will continue to focus on increasing efficiency across the company and reinvesting in opportunities with the highest potential.
Emphasizing that the company must continue to improve the way it works, McInerney noted that artificial intelligence is also contributing to accelerating this transformation and shaping the way work is done at Visa.
