Oman's Foreign Minister Bedr bin Hamed al-Busaidi, the mediator of the Iran-U.S. negotiations, stated that he was "disappointed" by the attacks launched by Israel and the U.S. on Iran while the negotiations were ongoing. Busaidi had mentioned shortly before the attacks that significant progress had been made towards a "peace agreement."
After the attacks initiated by the US-Israel against Iran, Iran began retaliatory strikes against Israel and US bases in the region; a striking statement came from Oman's Foreign Minister Bedr bin Hamed al-Busaidi, the mediator of the Iran-US negotiations.
"I AM DISAPPOINTED"
Shortly before the attacks, Busaidi stated that significant progress had been made towards a "peace agreement" and shared evaluations regarding the attacks of Israel and the US on Iran from his account on the US-based X company's social media platform.
The Omani Minister, the mediator of the Iran-US negotiations, said, "I am disappointed. Active and serious negotiations have once again been undermined. This situation serves neither the interests of the United States nor global peace. I pray for the innocent who will suffer. I call on the United States to refrain from getting further involved in this. This is not your war."
WHAT DID HE SAY?
Oman's Foreign Minister Bedr bin Hamed al-Busaidi stated in the morning that significant progress had been made towards a "peace agreement" in the ongoing nuclear talks between the US and Iran, mentioning that there would be "zero stockpiling" of enriched uranium and that this would be verified by the International Atomic Energy Agency.
US-ISRAEL ATTACKS AND IRAN'S RETALIATIONS
While the negotiation process between Iran and the US continues, Israel and the US launched joint attacks on Iran in the early hours of the morning.
The Israeli Ministry of Defense announced that Israel had initiated a "preventive attack" against Iran. US President Donald Trump also announced that they had launched a "major operation" against Iran.
As part of the attacks, the cities of Tehran, Isfahan, Karaj, Qom, Tabriz, Bushehr, Kermanshah, and Ilam were targeted.
As Israel and Iran closed their airspace, a state of emergency was declared across Israel, and sirens were sounded. Warnings were issued directing the Israeli public to shelters before Iran's counterattacks.
The Iranian army announced that it had launched counterattacks against Israel with dozens of ballistic missiles and drones in response to the attacks by the US and Israel.
Iran targeted simultaneous US bases in countries such as Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, and Jordan with missile attacks, while the US naval base in Bahrain was hit.
