In the case of Savaş Temirhanoğulları, who killed Fadim Temirhanoğulları, who was in the process of getting a divorce, with 9 bullets, and his friend Fikret İnal, who helped him escape, a verdict has been reached. The court panel sentenced Savaş Temirhanoğulları to aggravated life imprisonment but applied a good behavior discount. While the defendant's sentence was converted to life imprisonment, his mother, Mediha Saçlı, suffered a nervous breakdown after the hearing.
The manager of Atapark Housing Site in Hurma Neighborhood of Konyaaltı district, Fadim Temirhanoğulları (52), obtained a 3-month restraining order against her estranged husband, Savaş Temirhanoğulları (48), who returned home around 05:00 on September 12, 2024. Savaş Temirhanoğulları shot his wife with a gun and fled.
THEIR DAUGHTER WOKE UP TO GUNSHOTS
At that moment, their daughter I.T. (16), who was sleeping in her room, thought she was having a nightmare and went back to sleep. The high school student I.T. woke up around 08:30 to a phone call from a school friend.
SHE SAW HER MOTHER IN A POOL OF BLOOD
When I.T. left her room and saw her mother in a pool of blood, she ran out of the house and knocked on the door of the neighbor. The neighbors who came to the house notified the 112 Emergency Call Center. The medical team dispatched to the address determined that Temirhanoğulları had lost her life. The police launched an operation to capture Savaş Temirhanoğulları, who was identified as working as a security guard at an entertainment center in Kemer district.
HE WAS CAUGHT IN KORKUTELİ
Teams from the homicide bureau, examining security camera footage, determined that Savaş Temirhanoğulları had gone to Korkuteli district in his friend Fikret İnal's vehicle. The teams caught Temirhanoğulları and İnal at their hiding place with the weapon used in the crime. Fikret İnal, who was alleged to have assisted Savaş Temirhanoğulları in fleeing, was arrested.
THE HEARING WAS HELD
The 9th hearing of the case, in which Savaş Temirhanoğulları was charged with 'premeditated murder of a spouse' and İnal with 'aiding and abetting premeditated murder of a spouse,' was held at the Antalya 1st High Criminal Court. In the previous hearing, the prosecutor requested aggravated life imprisonment for the two defendants. In his final defense, Savaş Temirhanoğulları stated, "My intention was not to kill; I have not been violent towards my wife for 30 years. I regret it." Fikret İnal, who stated that he was not involved in the incident, said, "I request my release and acquittal."
ACQUITTED OF 2 CHARGES
The court panel sentenced Savaş Temirhanoğulları to aggravated life imprisonment but applied a 'good behavior' reduction. While the defendant's sentence was converted to life imprisonment, the other defendant, Fikret İnal, was sentenced to 19 years in prison. Temirhanoğulları was acquitted of the charges of 'Insult' and 'Threat' due to lack of evidence.
PUNISHMENT LIKE A REWARD
After the hearing, the victim's mother, Mediha Saçlı, who suffered a nervous breakdown, fainted in front of the courthouse. The medical team present intervened with Saçlı. Reacting to the decision, Mediha Saçlı said, "Those criminals will celebrate in prison. Our children and women are being killed. Is the punishment given just? My child lies under the ground, she was killed. She was torn apart. They will eat, drink, and sleep there. It is a punishment like a reward."
"THE DEFENDANT WAS NOT PUNISHED FOR 'PREMEDITATED MURDER'"
Initially, the lawyer of the Women and Children Association, Yağmur Burçin Sayın Kurt, stated, "As women, we have once again seen that our safety is not guaranteed today. A decision was made that anyone who can walk freely can kill another person. The defendant was given a 'good behavior' reduction. We still do not know the reason for this. The defendant was also acquitted of the charges of 'Insult' and 'Threat.' However, all evidence was present. It was clear to everyone that the murder was committed with premeditation and planning. However, no punishment was given for 'premeditated murder.' Contrary to the prosecutor's opinion, the defendant was given a 'good behavior' reduction, and life imprisonment was given to Fikret İnal for 19 years. After hearing about the 'good behavior' reduction, they must have felt relieved. We will use all legal avenues to the fullest and continue our struggle. We will appeal this decision."
