The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, responded to the question, "Will bills increase in the new year?" by stating that they do not plan any price adjustments for natural gas and electricity in January, but they may make adjustments throughout the year according to inflation targets.
The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, answered questions related to the agenda during a meeting with the economic press in Istanbul.
WILL BILLS INCREASE?
In response to the question, "Will bills increase in the new year?" Minister Bayraktar stated that they do not plan any price adjustments for natural gas and electricity in January, but they may make adjustments throughout the year according to inflation targets.
WILL STATE SUPPORT CONTINUE?
Minister Bayraktar also made statements regarding whether state support for electricity and natural gas bills will continue in 2026, explaining that a state support of 650 billion lira was provided for electricity and natural gas bills in 2025, and that this amount will be 282 billion lira for electricity and 91 billion lira for gas in 2026.
Bayraktar noted that the 'last resort consumer tariff' applied in electricity will also be implemented in natural gas, stating, "Citizens who exceed a certain amount of consumption will not receive support for natural gas. Different limits will be applied on a provincial basis. However, we are working to ensure that this application does not start this winter."
WILL THE WINTER TIME APPLICATION CONTINUE?
Minister Bayraktar announced that the winter time application will continue, stating, "Since the year the application started, we have saved 113 billion kilowatt-hours of energy. Additionally, there has been an energy saving of 27 billion lira."
