In the context of a football betting investigation, detention orders have been issued for a total of 29 suspects, including 14 players. Among those named in the detention orders is Erden Timur, a former executive of Galatasaray. The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office stated that Timur was detained for the crimes of "influencing the outcome of a specific sports competition," "illegal betting," and "money laundering."

HERE ARE THE REASONS FOR ERDEN TIMUR'S DETENTION
It was stated that Timur was detained for the crimes of "affecting the outcome of a specific sports competition," "illegal betting," and "money laundering." In a statement from the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was reported that as a result of the examination of Timur's bank accounts, interconnected suspicious financial transactions were detected under Article 11 of Law No. 6222, Law No. 5549, and Law No. 7258, and that Erden Timur was detained in this context.
The statement from the prosecutor's office regarding the matter is as follows:
"As part of the investigation conducted by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, known to the public as the 'Football Betting Investigation';
As a result of the evidence obtained from data acquired from MASAK and legal betting sites, open-source research, PFDK decisions, HTS analysis studies, and the examination of digital items seized from other suspects in the previous two operations,
Seven suspects were identified as having suspicious financial transactions connected to a detained suspect who was processed in previous simultaneous arrests, detentions, searches, and seizures,
Six suspects who placed bets on the Kasımpaşa-Samsunspor football match on 26/10/2024, which was determined to affect the outcome of the match,
One suspect working at TFF, whose suspicious financial transactions and related betting account were identified as a result of the examination of bank accounts,
One suspect (Erden Timur), who previously served as an administrator at Galatasaray Sports Club, and whose suspicious financial transactions were determined to be in violation of Article 11 of Law No. 6222, Law No. 5549, and Law No. 7258, and were interconnected,
A total of 29 suspects, including 14 players who placed bets in a way that would affect the outcome of the match (betting that the opposing team would win against their own team), were simultaneously arrested, detained, searched, and seized in a total of 11 different provinces centered in Istanbul today.
