The President of the Association of All Restaurateurs and Hoteliers, Ramazan Bingöl, has taken action against rising costs and the high commissions imposed by online food platforms. Stating that they will implement a 20% discount across Turkey, Bingöl said, "I am calling on online platforms. Either you sit down with us at the table and lower the commissions, or 300,000 restaurants and cafes will exit the system."

The President of the Association of All Restaurateurs and Hoteliers (TÜRES), Ramazan Bingöl, announced in a statement to CNBC-e that they will implement a 20% discount across Turkey.

"WE ARE EXPERIENCING AN UNNAMED PROTEST"

Stating that the rising prices and recent food poisoning incidents have seriously negatively affected the sector, TÜRES said, "We are experiencing an unnamed protest."

"WE WANT COMMISSIONS TO BE BROUGHT DOWN TO A REASONABLE LEVEL"

Emphasizing that some restaurant businesses have experienced a 90% loss in business due to food poisoning news, Bingöl said, "However, we have been fighting another issue for a long time. That is the commissions reaching up to 40% on online food platforms. We want those commissions to be brought down to a reasonable level," he stated. Bingöl highlighted that they have started a serious struggle against online platforms.

Ramazan Bingöl said, "Citizens should not order from online platforms. They should come and buy from us at a lower price. Right now, out of a thousand lira order, 531 liras stays with us, the rest goes to the food platform. This reflects as high prices to the citizens. With our campaign, we want to put an end to this situation. This way, citizens will buy 20% cheaper."

"WE WILL WITHDRAW 300 THOUSAND RESTAURANTS AND CAFES FROM THE SYSTEM"

Ramazan Bingöl stated, "I call on online platforms. Either you sit at the table with us and lower the commissions, or 300 thousand restaurants and cafes will withdraw from the system." Bingöl expressed that restaurants are considering starting a boycott and that they expect citizens to stand by them. He explained that they will establish their own ordering systems as a sector.
