The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority will conduct a simultaneous earthquake drill in seven cities in the Marmara Region as part of the Turkey Disaster Response Plan. The drill, which will take place on Wednesday, November 26, at 11:30 AM, will be carried out based on a scenario related to a potential disaster at S4 level.
The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) will conduct a simultaneous earthquake drill in seven cities in the Marmara Region as part of the Turkey Disaster Response Plan. The drill will take place on Wednesday, November 26.
SIMULTANEOUSLY IN SEVEN CITIES
According to the news on NTV; AFAD will conduct a simultaneous earthquake drill in the provinces of Istanbul, Tekirdağ, Yalova, Bursa, Sakarya, Bilecik, and Kocaeli located in the Marmara Region.
The purpose of the drill is to ensure that citizens apply the correct behaviors during an earthquake and to strengthen coordination among institutions.
“DROP-COVER-HOLD ON” DRILL WILL LAST 45 SECONDS
The drill will be held on Wednesday, November 26, at 11:30 AM.
During the drill, which will be conducted at Level 4, the "Drop-Cover-Hold On" action will be performed for 45 seconds in all institutions. Participants will evacuate the buildings they are in after this process.
PREPARATORY MEETING HELD
Preparations by AFAD and non-governmental organizations are ongoing before the drill.
A coordination meeting was held recently at the Istanbul Provincial Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate.
In the meeting chaired by Istanbul Deputy Governor Mustafa Kaya, preparations for the drill process, task distributions, coordination mechanisms, and the principles for implementing shelter plans were discussed.
WHAT DOES LEVEL 4 MEAN?
The drill will be conducted based on a scenario of a possible disaster at Level 4.
Level S1 refers to situations where local resources are sufficient;
Level S2 refers to the involvement of supporting provinces when a province's resources are insufficient;
Level S3 refers to the need for national-level support;
Level S4 refers to disaster scenarios where international support may be required.
