The State Supervisory Board has launched an investigation into the fake e-signature incident upon the instruction of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

In January, the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office opened an investigation into a criminal organization that was detected to be involved in illegal activities such as issuing fake graduation certificates, driver's licenses, and certificates using electronically obtained signatures through unlawful means.

SECURITY OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS WILL BE MONITORED

According to the information obtained, an examination has been initiated by the DDK upon the instruction of President Erdoğan to ensure the protection of trust in the provision of public services and to effectively combat all forms of abuse and illegality.

The DDK will carry out a comprehensive examination and research task regarding the measures taken to ensure the security of the electronic signature process and the information systems of the relevant public institutions.

ERDOĞAN HAD GIVEN INSTRUCTIONS TO DDK FOR KPSS IN 2022

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had instructed the State Supervisory Board (DDK) to conduct an investigation regarding allegations related to some questions in the 2022 KPSS License session.

E-SIGNATURE INVESTIGATION

According to the case file in the e-signature investigation, the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office filed two separate lawsuits with the Ankara 23rd Criminal Court of First Instance against suspects who gained unauthorized access to systems by copying the e-signatures of managers in numerous public institutions and issued fake university and high school diplomas and driver's licenses. In the first case opened in May, there were 134 suspects, while the second indictment completed in July included 65 suspects.

The court decided to merge both cases. In the hearing held on October 10, the court ordered the release of 5 defendants, including Ziya Kadiroğlu. The prosecutor objected to the release decision. The objection was evaluated by the Ankara 23rd Heavy Criminal Court. Last night, the court accepted the prosecutor's objection and ruled for the re-arrest of the defendants Mıhyeddin Yakışır, Taner Dağhan, Ziya Kadiroğlu, Gökay Celal Gülen, and Yalçın Maraşlı, who had been granted release.
