In the Melikgazi district of Kayseri, 7-year-old Demir Koç, who was shot by his father, has passed away in the hospital where he had been receiving treatment for 2 days. Following the incident, the father, Volkan Koç, was taken into custody and has been arrested. It was reported that Koç stated in his testimony that he accidentally shot his son while cleaning his gun.
A terrible incident occurred two days ago on Fetih Street in the Gesi Fatih neighborhood of the Melikgazi district of Kayseri.
According to allegations, Volkan Koç accidentally shot his 7-year-old son, Demir Koç, in the head while cleaning his gun at home. The severely injured child was taken to Kayseri City Hospital by ambulance for treatment. Father Volkan Koç, on the other hand, locked himself in the house after having a nervous breakdown.
FATHER ARRESTED
Following this, a large number of police, fire, and medical teams were dispatched to the address. The police, who took security measures in the area, tried to convince Volkan Koç to surrender. When Volkan Koç did not respond to the police's approximately 3-hour-long persuasion efforts, Special Operations police conducted an operation at the house. The father, who was taken into custody, was arrested by the court and sent to prison.
DIED 2 DAYS LATER
Demir Koç, who was being treated in the hospital, lost his battle for life after two days. The child's body, who passed away during the night, was placed in the morgue of Kayseri State Hospital for autopsy.
FATHER'S STATEMENT
On the other hand, it was learned that in his statement, Volkan Koç said that the gun went off accidentally while he was cleaning it and that he shot his son by mistake. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
