The CHP's announcement that it will not participate in the delegation going to İmralı as part of the "Terror-Free Turkey" process has sparked debate in politics. AK Party Diyarbakır MP Suna Kepolu Ataman criticized the CHP's decision, stating, "The CHP has never stood by the Kurds; it executed our ancestors," and argued that the party has once again demonstrated this with its decision regarding İmralı.
The Republican People's Party announced that it will not participate in the planned meeting with Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı, led by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, within the framework of the government's "Terror-Free Turkey" process. One of the most striking statements during this process came from AK Party Diyarbakır Deputy Suna Kepolu Ataman. Ataman harshly criticized the CHP's decision not to join the İmralı delegation, arguing that the party has historically not stood alongside the Kurdish people.

In his statement, Ataman said, "The CHP executed our ancestors. The CHP has never been on the side of the Kurdish people. It has not taken any significant steps for the Kurds until today. Pointing out the Parliament Commission's decision to visit İmralı, Ataman confirmed that this visit will take place, stating, "Whoever does not go, this commission will go to İmralı and meet with Öcalan."

Suna Kepolu Ataman emphasized his confidence in the success of the process, saying, "This process will reach a conclusion in every way. The Kurdish people want it, and the Turkish people want it. Kurds and Turks cannot be separated."
