In the graduation ceremony of the Army Academy held on August 30, the newly graduated lieutenants shouted the slogan "We are the soldiers of Mustafa Kemal" after the protocol left the ceremony area, and a sword oath was taken. The investigation initiated regarding this matter has reached its conclusion. Notifications were made for the referral of Lieutenant Ebru Eroğlu and Lieutenant İzzet Talip Akarsu to the High Disciplinary Board for the purpose of expulsion from the Turkish Armed Forces.

ATTENTION-GRABBING COMPARISON BY MUSTAFA VARANK REGARDING LIEUTENANTS

While the decision received a strong reaction from the opposition, especially the CHP, the ruling party supported it. AK Party Bursa Deputy Mustafa Varank made an interesting statement on his social media account. Stating that the treacherous coup attempt on July 15 was carried out by FETÖ generals, Varank emphasized that being a military student does not grant anyone the freedom to commit crimes.

Varank used the following expressions: "Being a military student does not grant anyone the freedom to be undisciplined and commit crimes! The 150 generals who were expelled from our heroic army and martyred 251 children of the homeland on July 15 were also military graduates..."

After the graduation ceremony of the Army Academy on August 30, the lieutenants held a sword ceremony and shouted the slogan "We are the soldiers of Mustafa Kemal."

The students, led by the top student Ebru Eroğlu, took an oath in unison with the following words: "We swear that hands reaching for a piece of our sacred homeland will find us, and our swords will always be sharp and ready, in the name of the independence of the secular, democratic Republic of Turkey, the indivisible integrity of the country, the honor and dignity of the great Turkish nation. We are the children of the Turkish future. We were born with honor, and we will live with honor. How happy is the one who says I am a Turk!"

These images were shared on social media accounts and subsequently became a topic in the political agenda. After the sword ceremony of the lieutenants, strong reactions came from the ruling party, and an investigation was conducted against the lieutenants.
