An investigation has been initiated ex officio by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against Saliha Sera Kadıgil, a Member of Parliament for Istanbul from the Workers' Party of Turkey, on charges of 'insulting the President' and 'threat' due to her statements during a rally in Izmir.

Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that an investigation has been initiated ex officio against Turkey's Workers' Party (TİP) Istanbul Deputy Saliha Sera Kadıgil regarding her statements directed at President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during a rally in Izmir.

SPOKE AT RALLY HELD 2 DAYS AGO 

The statements made by Istanbul Deputy Saliha Sera Kadıgil, who spoke at a rally organized by Turkey's Workers' Party (TİP) on July 31, 2026 in Izmir, have been brought to the judiciary. The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office took action regarding the expressions in Kadıgil's speech.

INVESTIGATION FOR INSULT AND THREAT AGAINST THE PRESIDENT 

In the official statement made by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that Kadıgil's words violated the relevant articles of the Turkish Penal Code, and the following statements were included:

"An investigation has been initiated ex officio by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the expressions directed at the President of the Republic of Türkiye in the speech made by Turkey's Workers' Party Istanbul Deputy Saliha Sera KADIGIL during the rally organized by Turkey's Workers' Party on 31/07/2026 and held in the province of Izmir, on the charges of Insulting the President and Threatening the President, as regulated in Articles 299 and 310/2 of the TPC."

It has been learned that the judicial process initiated against Kadıgil is ongoing.
