Former Minister of Interior Suleyman Soylu said that the issue that worried him the most during his tenure was the possibility of another uprising after July 15. Soylu, who attended a program with Gazi University students, said, 'I was very afraid that something like this would happen to the nation while we slept at night; I never went to bed until 3 a.m. Turkey cannot have an internal threat; all incidents lead to outside forces.'
Former Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu made striking assessments regarding Turkey's security policies on the Fidecast program prepared by Gazi University students. Pointing to the source of events in Turkey, Soylu stated, "Turkey cannot have an internal threat. Turkey has an external threat. The end of the yarn of all events occurring in Turkey is outside."
Former Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu, who was a guest on the first episode of the Fidecast program prepared by the Ideas and Values Community consisting of Gazi University students, answered the questions of the program host Mehmet Fatih Güleç. Making statements on many topics from security policies to politics, from the July 15 coup attempt to social media, Soylu emphasized that the main threat facing Turkey is externally sourced.
"IT IS THE OUTSIDE THAT WANTS TO CORRUPT THE ANATOLIAN GEOGRAPHY"
Pointing out that Turkey has the power to solve its own problems thanks to its historical and social accumulation, Soylu continued his speech as follows:
"This is the country of the Ahmet Yesevi culture. This is the country of Hacı Bektaş, Mevlana, Köroğlu, and Yunus Emre. This is the country of solidarity, cooperation, and goodness. It is the outside that wants to corrupt Turkey, especially this Anatolian geography."
"MY BIGGEST FEAR WAS A NEW UPRISING"
Answering the question of what concerned him the most during his tenure at the Ministry of Interior, Soylu stated that he was greatly worried about the possibility of a similar uprising occurring again after the July 15 coup attempt. Stating that he was on duty until late at night, Soylu said, "My fear is not a fear belonging to me. But I was very afraid that if we slept and could not prevent this, and while we were sleeping at night, such a thing would happen to the society, to the nation, to the country. I never went to bed until three in the morning."
Also mentioning his bond with society, Soylu expressed that a large part of the public understood him, but he hoped that those he thought would never understand would also understand them.
"SOCIAL MEDIA IS A TUTELAGE MECHANISM"
Evaluating the social and political effects of social media, Soylu harshly criticized these platforms. Saying, "Whoever established social media, designed it, whoever created its algorithms is its boss," Soylu argued that social media is a tutelage mechanism aiming to make people, countries, and states dependent.
POLITICS AND CAREER ADVICE TO THE YOUTH
At the end of the program, former Minister Soylu gave important advice to young people, emphasizing that lasting success in politics comes from producing ideas, and concluded his speech with the words, "Those who design politics and those who win in politics are always those who engage in politics through their ideas. Allah is with those who work. Develop your skills. Maybe one of us will emerge and become a remedy for the world's most important problem."
