Following allegations that a five-year-old girl in Şanlıurfa was raped and then strangled to death, the governor's office took action. In a statement regarding the matter from the Şanlıurfa Governorate, it was announced that an investigation has been initiated to determine the cause of the child's death.

İYİ Party Group Deputy Chairman Turhan Çömez shared the hospital report, claiming that a five-year-old girl in Şanlıurfa was raped and then strangled to death. A written statement regarding the issue was released by the Şanlıurfa Governorship.

AN INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN LAUNCHED

The governorship stated that legal proceedings have been initiated regarding the matter and that the investigation is being conducted meticulously. The statement included, "On January 15, 2025, in the Oğulcuk neighborhood of our Harran district, a six-year-old child named M.N.B, who was brought to Harran State Hospital by her family due to illness, unfortunately passed away despite all interventions made at the hospital. Following the initial medical assessment at Harran State Hospital, legal proceedings were immediately initiated to determine the cause of death, and the investigation conducted by the Şanlıurfa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is being carried out meticulously. The issue is being closely monitored by our governorship."

"STRANGLED TO DEATH AFTER RAPE"

Turhan Çömez, in his post where he also included the report obtained from Harran State Hospital, stated, "A girl who is only 5 years old. She is brought to Harran State Hospital. She has been strangled to death after a horrific rape. All necessary interventions are being made in the emergency room, but it is not possible to revive her heart. Everything is being recorded with a detailed report. If no mistakes are made in the Forensic Medicine phase, it is still possible to reach all evidence in the most accurate way and identify the perpetrators." Çömez had called out by tagging the accounts of the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Health, and the Şanlıurfa Governorship in his social media post.
