The claim that TSMC, the world's largest chip manufacturer, is preparing to raise production prices has brought expectations of price increases for smartphones and other electronic devices. While no official statement has been made by the company yet, it is assessed that the potential cost increase could be reflected in the new product prices of Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, and other technology brands.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), one of the most important manufacturers in the technology sector, is preparing to raise prices due to increased production costs and high demand for artificial intelligence chips. According to reports in the international press, the company is considering a price increase of 5 to 10 percent for advanced production technologies by 2027. The increase in AI chips is said to potentially reach higher levels.
PHONE PRICES MAY BE AFFECTED
TSMC produces chips for the world's leading technology companies such as Apple, Qualcomm, MediaTek, AMD, and Nvidia. If these companies pass on the rising production costs to product prices, it is stated that price increases may occur in smartphones, laptops, tablets, and AI-supported devices.
It is particularly evaluated that next-generation premium phone models may be affected by this process, as Apple's iPhone processors and Qualcomm's Snapdragon processors are produced by TSMC.
NOT YET FINALIZED
No official statement has been made by TSMC regarding the price increase. Industry sources state that the final decision will be shaped by customer demands and market conditions. Therefore, it is not yet clear to what extent the possible cost increase will be reflected to consumers.
