REMARKABLE STATEMENTS FROM ERDOGAN
Here are some highlights from President Erdogan's press conference; "We will discuss NATO's defense structure in order to strengthen it. Our Summit has a special meaning due to the 75th anniversary of NATO's establishment.
"WE WILL DRAW ATTENTION TO THE INCREASING TERRORIST THREAT"
Our expectation from the Summit is to achieve results that prioritize national security concerns and the alliance that respects them. It is important to remove barriers in the defense industry. We will draw attention to the increasing terrorist threat in the world during the meetings. We will emphasize the need to increase NATO's efforts. We continue our principled stance to prevent NATO from becoming a party to the war in Ukraine. Every day that weapons speak shows how accurate our position is.
"WE WILL EMPHASIZE THAT THEY HAVE BEEN INADEQUATE IN STOPPING ISRAEL"
Turkey is one of the top 5 countries that contribute the most to NATO's missions and operations. We are among the backbone countries of NATO in terms of capabilities and capacities. We will bring up the massacres in Gaza, where our common values are being tested for sincerity. We will emphasize that the international community has been inadequate in stopping Israel. We will also discuss these issues in bilateral meetings.
"WE WILL BRING UP THE MASSACRES AGAINST THE PALESTINIAN PEOPLE"
In the war in Ukraine, NATO should not become a party to the war and a fair peace should be achieved. We will bring up the massacres against the Palestinian people in Gaza, where our common values are being tested for sincerity. We want to see the TRNC (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus) as a full member of the Turkic Council. We continue to strengthen our position in NATO. We have a high-level role under Rutte's secretary-generalship. However, we have not been able to get what we want from NATO in this regard."
