HANIYEH ASSASSINATION INCREASES TENSION
The assassination attempt on Haniyeh in the Revolutionary Guards guesthouse in Tehran has brought Iran's security vulnerability to the world's attention. There are reports that the assassination was carried out with a bomb placed in Haniyeh's room, but the Iranian Revolutionary Guards announced that the room was targeted by a short-range rocket carrying a 7-kilogram warhead from Israel.
There were reports that police special unit commander Hasan Karami, who is believed to be involved in the assassination, had been arrested, but Iran denied these reports today.
