Presidential Chief Advisor Mehmet Ucum stated that the YENI Party, founded under the leadership of Ozgur Ozel who left the CHP, is not a significant development for Turkish politics. Ucum argued that the split occurred due to personal agendas rather than ideological differences, adding that the new party cannot produce original policies and "cannot go beyond a political gossip debate."
Presidential Chief Advisor and Vice President of the Presidential Legal Policies Board Mehmet Uçum evaluated the YENI Party, founded by those who left the CHP, in a post on his social media account.
Uçum stated, "The split between CHP and the New Party is extremely insignificant in terms of the needs of general politics. Because this division has nothing to do with any difference in worldview. In fact, those interested in the current agenda are treating the issue as political gossip. All discussions focus on the personal or group agendas of those who stayed and those who split."
"IT IS NOTHING BUT THE 13TH PARTY TO EMERGE FROM CHP" Uçum, arguing that the YENI Party cannot generate new meaning in politics, made the following assessment: "In fact, the issue amounts to nothing more than the emergence of a 13th party from the source party CHP. Just as in the past, apart from the Democratic Party and DSP (under Ecevit’s influence), the other splinter groups did not create any significance, this New Party cannot produce meaning either. Because the split occurred not from a difference in general policy, but entirely through subjective agendas."
Presidential Chief Advisor Mehmet Uçum "THOSE WHO EMBRACED IRREGULARITIES AND CORRUPTION LED THE WAY" In his post, Uçum also used the following words regarding the reasons for the split: "The fact that those who embraced irregularities and corruption, especially in party congress processes and in the practice of local governments, particularly in Istanbul, have led this split reveals a cautionary situation. If the decision on the invalidity of the general assembly had not been made, these secessionists would have stayed in the CHP. When it became clear that an absurd stance like resisting the law against the invalidity decision would not yield results, embracing a separate party option was preferred."
"CANNOT PRODUCE ORIGINAL POLICY" Claiming that the YENI Party was founded on personal needs, Uçum continued his words as follows: "Where is the difference in political perspective, where is the ideological divergence? This New Party cannot produce original policy. Because it is a party established not on a political stance but on personal needs. Therefore, the New Party issue, treated as if it's a major event in the country's politics, cannot go beyond a political gossip debate about individuals."
"CHP HAS ENTERED A CLEANSING PROCESS" At the end of his statement, Uçum noted that CHP has entered a process within itself with the split and used the following expressions: "With this split, CHP has essentially entered a cleansing process in line with the purification perspective they set before them. CHP is ultimately still CHP. The flood goes, the sand remains. What I have said is merely an observation-based determination. Anyone trying to derive other meanings will be mistaken. Let them not bother."
