Five council members of the New Welfare Party have resigned from the party in Düzce Municipality. In a statement regarding the resignation, it was said, "The dismissal of the provincial administration elected after the 3rd ordinary congress has caused deep wounds in the public conscience. We have decided to resign from the New Welfare Party in order to stand against this injustice."
After the YRP Düzce 3rd Ordinary Congress held in Düzce last week, the newly elected administration's attempt to be dismissed was met with reactions from the council members. YRP Düzce Municipal Council members Levent Esen, Gökhan Yiğit, Süheyla Şamandar, İbrahim İbrahimoğlu, and Taner Altun resigned from the party.
"WE DECIDED TO RESIGN BY STANDING AGAINST INJUSTICE"
Speaking on behalf of the members, Süheyla Şamandar stated, "Under the roof of the New Welfare Party, we were elected to the Düzce Municipal Council in the elections held on March 31, 2024, to serve the values of our nation for the cause of national vision. However, despite all the negativities experienced within our party immediately after the elections and reflected to the public, we tried to uphold the national vision cause. Despite the negative reflections to the public, we always tried to uphold our cause and not to be stained. During this process, despite the individual mistakes made by our central headquarters and some individuals, we made intense efforts to ensure that the national vision cause was not tarnished. We sadly observed that the effort we showed during this process was not reciprocated by the head of the central organization. Lastly, the dismissal of the provincial administration elected after the 3rd ordinary congress has caused deep wounds in the conscience of the public. In this context, we decided to resign from the New Welfare Party by standing against this injustice, which is the subject of the national vision cause. This decision is a requirement of our responsibility to the national vision lines and our people. We will continue our duties as municipal council members independently. In the future, we will strive to maintain honest and principled politics in line with the interests of our people," she said.
