In a written statement from the ministry, it was reported that Minister Fidan would participate in the meeting today in Riyadh to address the latest developments in the region.
IRAN HAS STRUCK RIYAD MULTIPLE TIMES
It was reported that Iran targeted Saudi Arabia's capital Riyadh multiple times during the conflicts that began on February 28, 2026. The first attack occurred on the day the conflicts started, and subsequent waves of drone and missile attacks continued to target the city.
Saudi officials stated that by mid-March, numerous drone attacks were carried out in groups of 4, 10, and 7 against Riyadh, most of which were intercepted by air defense systems.
It was noted that the attacks targeted the area around the U.S. Embassy and energy infrastructure, causing damage in some areas.
Overall in Saudi Arabia, it was reported that more than 438 drones and over 36 missiles had been neutralized by mid-March.
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan evaluated the risks of war in the Middle East and Turkey's diplomatic efforts at a joint press conference held at the ministry with Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand. Fidan warned, "War is spreading every day, and if not stopped, it could cause lasting damage to regional relations and the international order."
Expressing that Turkey is making intense diplomatic efforts for regional peace, Fidan stated that he would embark on a regional visit starting tomorrow and share President Erdoğan's messages. He said, "Our goal is a geography where everyone lives in security and sovereignty, and where Palestinians also have a state."
