THERE ARE TWO OF ONE VEHICLE

Experts warning against fraud methods in the second-hand car sector point out that fraudsters are using the twin vehicle method with altered chassis numbers. Fraudsters change the chassis numbers and bring the vehicles for inspection, obtaining a fake report that conceals the defects of the vehicles, making them appear sound.

"THE CHASSIS NUMBER SHOULD BE CHECKED IN 3 PLACES"

Explaining the method that fraudsters have recently made trendy, Expert Şenol Uysal stated, "First of all, citizens need to take their vehicles to a familiar and reputable inspection place. What needs to be done in the inspection is to check the chassis numbers from the brain, and the chassis numbers on the vehicle should be found on the brain, engine, and body. They need to check the chassis number in 3 places because there may be alterations. They should see if there are any cuts or additions around the chassis numbers; these points must be examined carefully. Citizens should be more cautious in this regard. Inspection experts also need to be careful. If there is any intervention, we report it to the police, and we ensure that the vehicle is withdrawn from the market in this way," he said.

"CHASSIS NUMBERS ARE FABRICATED AND RELEASED AS TWIN VEHICLES IN THE MARKET"

Pointing out that vehicles from earthquake-affected areas are still preferred by fraudsters, Şenol Uysal stated, "Some of the incidents we encountered on the vehicles we checked are that vehicles crushed in earthquake zones are coming with their chassis numbers particularly cut. That chassis is fabricated and released into the market as a twin vehicle. License plates and chassis numbers should be checked. We have encountered a few cases here and warned citizens who are going to buy vehicles. No one should get hurt, and no one should gain unfairly. These incidents are outright fraud, and citizens need to be more careful about this," he said.
