A scammer who offered fake stock market courses through social media platforms collected millions of lira from investors and then disappeared. The victims have turned to the courts in search of justice.

K.D., who started giving stock and cryptocurrency lessons through various platforms on the internet, attracted investors with high profit promises. K.D., who had participants buy cryptocurrencies through his own developed application, disappeared with a final message. As investors lost large sums of money, the search for justice began in Istanbul.

Millions of Lira Fraud Through Cryptocurrency Platform

The individual named K.D., who gained the trust of investors by providing stock training through social media platforms and WhatsApp, disappeared after defrauding hundreds of people. The suspect, who introduced himself as a stock and cryptocurrency expert, initially gained trust by offering free stock training to his victims, then directed them to invest in cryptocurrencies through his own developed application.

According to the victims, the suspect first reached his victims by advertising on Instagram and regularly conducted online stock lessons. During the two months of training, K.D. gained the trust of investors by suggesting stocks that actually increased in value. He then encouraged them to use his application HG digital, directing them to buy and sell cryptocurrencies from there.

The suspect, who introduced himself as the chief analyst of Hg Private Equity Group, used fake references and fabricated success stories to influence investors. Claiming to have business connections with large companies in Turkey, the suspect tried to convince his victims with fake agreement images and manipulated documents shared on social media. It was revealed that the suspect also falsely used the title of professor and did not have such an academic career in reality.

The fraud network put forward various excuses when investors wanted to withdraw their money. Sometimes they claimed that taxes needed to be paid, and at other times they blocked accounts to prevent withdrawals. Finally, the suspect or suspects, who made a big hit with a cryptocurrency named "Goodbye," disappeared by closing the platform.

Victim Sinem Kunal stated that an average of 500 thousand lira loss was incurred by 600 people identified so far. Kunal mentioned that there were victims who sold their homes and cars to invest, and some victims experienced psychological breakdowns. Another victim, Bahar Keçecioğlu, stated that the suspect manipulated the prices of the cryptocurrency using special software and deceived investors.

Another defrauded citizen, Saniye Mülazımoğlu, also stated that she was defrauded by K.D. and E.Y. Mülazımoğlu also mentioned that she suffered a loss of 120 thousand lira and could not get her money back. The victims went to the Istanbul Courthouse to file a criminal complaint and an investigation was initiated regarding the incident.
