Here is Ayhan Bora Kaplan's defense! The noteworthy detail of December 17-25.

09.09.2024 18:40

Ayhan Bora Kaplan made his defense in the trial where 61 defendants were being tried. In his defense, Kaplan said, "If I had signed the statement they told me to sign, believe me, they would have done something like 17/25 December."

In the 'Ayhan Bora Kaplan' criminal organization case, where 18 of the 61 defendants are detained, defendant Ayhan Bora Kaplan, who made a defense, said, "They set a trap for us. The ones who did the December 17-25 were two police chiefs and one prosecutor. If I had signed the statement they told me to sign, I'm sure they would have done something like December 17/25" he said.

"WE WERE SET UP, WE DID NOT COMMIT THIS CRIME"

The trial of 18 detained and 61 defendants in the Ayhan Bora Kaplan criminal organization investigation continued at the 32nd Heavy Penal Court in Ankara. The 14th session of the trial was held in the courtroom at the Sincan Prison Campus, with the presence of defendants, their relatives, and defense lawyers. Defendant Kaplan, stating that he did not commit any injustice or disrespect to any authority, said, "We were set up, we did not commit this crime. I did not form an organization with these people" he said.

"WHICH ONE IS TRUE, THEY ARE ALL LIES"

Defendant Kaplan, regarding the inclusion of his own men Semih Arslan's suspicious death in the case, said, "Semih's mother Adalet Arslan said in her first statement, 'They saw Bora Kaplan at the Forensic Medicine.' When she saw that Semih's height was written wrong, I said, 'They changed the Forensic Medicine report'; that's why I went and objected. His mother came to court and said, 'I saw Fethi Koyuncu at the Forensic Medicine.' Which one is true, which one is a lie?" he said.

"MY MISTAKE WAS APPEARING IN FRONT OF TRT ON JULY 15"

Defendant Kaplan, in the 'secret witness' case involving police officers involved in the investigation, accused former Ankara Provincial Police Deputy Director Murat Çelik and his team of setting a trap for them, claiming that the police officers involved in the investigation were trying to carry out an operation similar to December 17-25. Kaplan said, "I have said many times that they set a trap for us. The police officers Şevket Demircan and Yakup Yalçın are exchanging messages. In their messages, when they mention former Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu, they say 'the minister of crime'. Look at the animosity, look at the enmity. My mistake was appearing in front of TRT on July 15. Unfortunately, my name was mentioned together with Süleyman Soylu. After my name was mentioned, these people became a trouble for me. The ones who did December 17-25 were two police chiefs and one prosecutor. They did it there; but they couldn't do it here. If I had signed the statement they told me to sign, I'm sure they would have done something like December 17-25. But I didn't sign. I don't slander anyone" he said.

TRIAL POSTPONED

After the statements of the defendant and the lawyers, the court decided to write a letter to the 13th Criminal Court of First Instance, requesting a copy of the indictment and the minutes of the trial regarding the police officers involved in the ongoing investigation, and postponed the trial to Wednesday.

INDICTMENT

In the indictment, Ayhan Bora Kaplan and other organization leaders Fethi Koyuncu, Mutlu Ayaş, Yusuf İzzet Savaş, Kanber Keskin, and Serdar Sertçelik are charged with 'Establishing and leading an armed organization with the intention of committing a crime', 'Intentional killing', 'Qualified intentional killing', 'Intentional injury', 'Deprivation of liberty', 'Qualified robbery', 'Torture', 'Destruction, concealment, or alteration of evidence', 'Assuming the guilt of another person', and 'Favoring the guilty', and a sentence of aggravated life imprisonment and up to 169 years and 6 months of imprisonment is requested. Various prison sentences are also requested for the other 55 defendants.
